The AE-1 Film SLR Tee
Every film enthusiast is familiar with this Single Lens Reflex camera, and you might even have seen one in a box in your grandpa's house somewhere.
Wikipedia calls the Canon AE-1 "a historically significant SLR". And if it's on the internet, it must be true.
Well actually, in this case it is true. The AE-1 was the very first microprocessor-equipped SLR camera, which sort of makes it like the ENIAC of SLR cameras.
It was introduced in April 1976 and heralded the start of a complete overhaul of Canon's SLR line that was to continue with the related AT-1, A-1, AV-1 AE-1 Program and AL-1.
The AE-1 was manufactured and sold until 1984 (hmm...) and during that time, over 1 million of them were made. Which explains why you probably own one or know someone who does.
We own one and think it deserves it's very own tribute. If you don't already, once you put on this tee
, you will too.
Fun Game Tip: Wear this tee out on the street and see how many people actually know the camera, and how many people just say "cool shirt!", but don't know what it is...
